Kefallonia island

kefallonia tour with my-tours.grKefalonia, with a size of 781 square-km, is the largest of the Ionian Islands. Its nature is spectacular: It has high mountains, deep valleys, lots of caves and strange geological formations and natural phenomena.

We will pick you up from your resort at approx.7.00 am and bring you to the very north of Zakynthos, to Agios Nikolaos, better known as Skinari, from where the ferry-boat to Kefallonia leaves at 9.15 am. If it is your lucky day you may have the chance to see some dolphins which on several occasions accompany the ferry-boat on its way to Pessada, the harbor of Kefallonia.

From Pessada we travel to the Monastery of the Saint Gerassimos, the Patron Saint of the island. Icons over 500 years old, the coffin with the relics of the Saint and more are waiting for you. Underneath the church is the cave where St.Gerassimos spent the most time of his life.

Then we head north through some of the most beautiful and dramatic landscapes to the Drogerati-Cave, which is famous for its stalactites and stalagmites. This cave has such perfect acoustics that Maria Kallas once used it to perform one of her many memorable concerts.

From there we will visit the Lake of Melissani, settled in a cave with an unusual open roof-dome. At noon the water of the lake reflects the sun so that you will experience a wealth of nature colours while they row you through the cave by boats.

Next Stop is Agia Efimia, a romantic village next to the sea. We will stay there about one hour for lunch in a beautiful tavern.

After lunch we travel southwest towards the capital of Kefallonia Argostoli.
On our way there we will have a photo-stop above Myrtos Beach one of Kefallonias most beautiful beaches.

In Argostoli you have time for a coffee or just a walk along the port.

Our tour is ends back at Pessada where the ferryboat is waiting for us to take us back to Zakynthos.

You will be back in your resort at approx. 9 pm.
